What is not available here, and why

Text recognition (OCR) from scans and photosThis needs a recognition model of 5 to 40 MB and a relaxed security rule for WebAssembly. Both contradict the small, sealed-off site. If your PDF already has a text layer, PDF to text pulls the text out. Many phones recognize text in a photo themselves, for example the Live Text feature on the iPhone.

Converting HEIC photos from the iPhoneOnly Safari can open HEIC on its own, and a decoder of its own would be very large. On the iPhone you can set the camera to save JPG right away: Settings, Camera, Formats, “Most Compatible”. JPG and PNG are resized and converted by Resize images. Converting a PDF to Word, Excel or PowerPointTurning a PDF back into an editable document needs layout recognition, which does not work reliably in the browser. The text of a PDF is available as a Word file through PDF text as a Word file, text only, without layout and without scans. As plain text, PDF to text pulls it out. A table from a text PDF is extracted by PDF table to CSV as CSV for Excel, with the columns guessed. The other direction works in Word, Excel and PowerPoint themselves: “Save as” and then choose PDF; a simple Word file is also converted by Word to PDF, without rebuilding the layout. Changing existing text in a PDFIn a PDF, text is stored as individually placed characters, not as paragraphs. Changing it without destroying the layout only works in special cases. What does work: Insert text into a PDF (German), redact spots and highlight and draw (German).

Converting or shrinking a videoNewer browsers can encode video themselves by now, but not all of them and only with a lot of effort. That is on the list for later. Until then there is no tool for it here.

Taking a screenshotYour device can do that itself: on Windows press Windows key + Shift + S, on a Mac Command + Shift + 4, on an Android phone usually Power + Volume down, on an iPhone with Face ID the side button + Volume up. Afterwards you can frame it with Polish screenshots (German) and cover names with Hide parts of a photo.

TranslatorGood translation needs a large language model. In the browser it would be too big, on a server your text would have to leave the page. Neither fits bnkz.de.

Currency converter with the current rateCurrent rates would have to be loaded from the internet, and that is exactly what this site does not do. If you know the rate, the Rule of three calculator converts the amount.

Shortening a linkA short link only works as long as a server forwards every call, and that server sees every click. That contradicts the principle of this site. For posters and notes, a QR code with the long link does the job: QR code for a link.
