Notices and signs
Opening hours, vacation closures, video surveillance, Wi-Fi for guests and more. You type the text, the font is fitted as large as possible. As a PDF for the printer and laminating pouches.
Days and hours as a table, with the name of your business above it.
What the sign says
The sign addresses your customers, so the fixed sentences use the formal form of address (German “Sie”).
Appears small above the heading.
Days individually (“Mo”) or as a group (“Mo–Fr”, “Sa, So”), at most 10 rows. “One row per day” splits groups, “Merge equal days” turns consecutive days with the same hours into one row again.
Which hours you are allowed to open is regulated by the store opening and closing hours laws and, for some sectors, rules of their own. The sign does not change that and does not check your hours.
If left empty, it is the day after the last day off. If that is a Sunday or a rest day, enter the first opening day here.
Hang the sign where it can be seen before buying or ordering, for example at the entrance and at the checkout: According to the German Federal Bank (Deutsche Bundesbank), the restriction must be clear before anyone buys. As of September 2026, please check: The EU is negotiating an obligation to accept cash; the European Parliament confirmed its negotiating mandate on 8 July 2026. The German federal government also plans an obligation to offer at least one digital payment method without a minimum amount. Neither has been decided yet.
Up to 6 lines of at most 120 characters each. Every line starts anew on the sign.
Only if you have appointed one: name and contact.
Default for businesses and clubs: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, as of September 2026, please check. Public authorities rely on other provisions. With point (f), the purpose on the sign also serves as the legitimate interest.
Default “at most 72 hours”, which the supervisory authorities usually consider appropriate, as of September 2026, please check. Enter how long your system really stores.
Where the complete details under Art. 13 GDPR are posted or can be found. On the sign this is preceded by the German text “Weitere Informationen nach Art. 13 DSGVO, auch zu Ihren Rechten (…), erhalten Sie:”.
Exactly as it appears in the router, with upper and lower case.
Sheet and look
Many office printers cannot do A3: then have it printed at a copy shop or use A4.
PNG or JPG (also WebP and GIF). The image is scaled down here in your browser to at most 900 pixels on the longest edge and appears at the top of the sign.
Preview
The preview appears shortly.
When printing, choose “Actual size” or “100%”, then the border sits evenly. For a shop window, put it in a laminating or clear plastic pouch.
Reuse your details
Your browser remembers nothing. “Save to a file” saves only the chosen sign, plus the name of the business, sheet and logo. The file is readable like a text, so for the Wi-Fi sign the password is in it too. When loading, what you typed for the other signs stays.
Goes well with: Wi-Fi QR code on its own · Tear-off tags · Photo consent (German)
Nothing leaves this device. Sign and PDF are made here in your browser, and the logo and Wi-Fi password go nowhere either.
How it works
- 01Choose a sign and type the text. After every change, the preview shows the finished sheet.
- 02Set the sheet, orientation, border and, if you like, a logo. The font adapts by itself.
- 03Download the PDF and print it at “Actual size”.
How the font is fitted. All parts grow together until the sheet is full: the heading largest, table and important lines smaller, extra lines smaller still. Short lines stay on one line, long ones wrap at spaces, the name of the business in at most two lines. A short heading like “Closed today” goes on two lines if that makes it larger and the rest of the text does not get smaller. A single word is never split in the middle, the font gets smaller instead. If the text does not fit even in the smallest size, the page says so. Below 12 pt it warns, because such small print can only be read from close up.
Opening hours. A hyphen between two days or numbers becomes an en dash in print (Mo–Fr, 9–18 Uhr). If “closed” is switched on, “closed” appears there, no matter what is in the hours field.
Video surveillance. The sign contains the required details for the first level of information, with a simple camera symbol. The complete details under Art. 13 GDPR (such as recipients, the rights of the people filmed in detail, the supervisory authority) belong at the place you name under “More information is available”. The tool does not write them. Legal basis and storage period are defaults as of September 2026 and can be changed in the fields.
Wi-Fi. The QR code uses the common Wi-Fi format that the camera on Android and iPhone recognizes. Network name and password are in it exactly as you type them, special characters such as semicolon and backslash are escaped for that. The page reports characters the print font cannot do: then the QR code is correct, but the printed password is not.
Limits. Only the Helvetica font, which every PDF program knows. Emojis and characters outside the Western European scripts are missing in it: the page tells you what is replaced or left out. Only A5, A4 and A3, one page per PDF, black text on white. A logo is scaled down to at most 900 pixels on the longest edge and may then be at most 2 MB in size; on an A3 sign seen from close up it can look slightly soft. The templates are samples to fill in yourself, not legal or tax advice.
