How it works
- 01At the top you calculate the part: type the percentage and the base value, for example 15% of 80.
- 02At the bottom you calculate the percentage: type the part and the base value, for example 12 of 80.
- 03Type numbers with a decimal point: 1,250.00. The result appears at once.
Calculating percent: the two formulas. Part = base value × percentage ÷ 100. Percentage = part ÷ base value × 100. The base value is always the whole, that is the 100%.
Example 1: What is 15% of 80? 80 × 15 ÷ 100 = 12. In the same way, 19% of €250: 250 × 19 ÷ 100 = €47.50.
Example 2: What percent is 12 of 80? 12 ÷ 80 × 100 = 15%. At school: 45 out of 60 points are 45 ÷ 60 × 100 = 75%.
Example 3: Discount. A sweater for €120 is reduced by 30%. The discount saves you 120 × 30 ÷ 100 = €36, you pay €84. The other way around: 30 of 120 is 30 ÷ 120 × 100 = 25%.
