How it works

- 04Tap “Add signature” and download the new file. Your original stays unchanged.
The signature is placed on the page as a fixed image, just like a scanned signature on paper. For many forms, applications and simple contracts between private individuals, that is enough. It is not enough where the law requires written form. In Germany this applies, for example, to a cancellation letter (Kündigung) for an employment contract or a rented apartment: there the paper must be signed by hand.
What it is not: not a qualified electronic signature (QES) under eIDAS. Such a signature needs a trust service provider that checks your identity. In Germany it is required, for example, for fixed-term employment contracts, guarantees or consumer loans. Where written form is required, an image of the signature is no substitute.
An image placed on the page can also be removed again. If you want to be on the safe side, also send the signed paper or use a qualified signature.
