Create GIF
Turn photos or images into an animated GIF and resize existing GIFs. Your browser does all the work itself, with its own GIF encoder.
Choose images
2 to 100 photos or images, or just drag them here.
JPG · PNG · WEBP · STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
0.1 to 10 seconds. Changing it sets all images to this value. You can change single images in the list.
Some programs and messengers play every GIF forever, no matter what it says.
The shape follows the first image in the list.
Fit: the whole image, the rest becomes border. Fill: covers everything, the edges are cut off. Images are never distorted.
A GIF knows at most 256 colors per image. Fewer colors make the file smaller, gradients then look stepped.
Shared is smaller. Per image fits better when the photos have very different colors.
When you download, your browser saves the file in the download folder or asks you where to put it.

How it works
- 01Create GIF: choose 2 to 100 photos or images, or drag them into the box. You change the order with the arrows or at the handle on the left (drag it; by keyboard: select the handle, press the space bar, then the arrow keys). Next to each image is its display time in seconds.
- 02Choose size, colors and repeat, then “Create GIF”. You see the finished GIF right away and download it.
- 03Resize GIF: load an existing GIF, scale it down, save colors or drop every second frame. Before and after are shown side by side.
The GIF is made in a background process of your browser (Web Worker), with a GIF encoder that belongs to this page: color reduction by median cut, optional dithering by Floyd-Steinberg, LZW packing as in the GIF standard. From the second frame on, only what has changed is stored. Unchanged areas stay transparent and show the frame before. So the GIF looks exactly the same and gets smaller.
To be honest: GIF is an old format with at most 256 colors per image. Photos lose fine detail that way, and long clips always get big. For videos, a video format is better. This tool cannot turn videos into GIFs. It has no text on the GIF and no effects either.
Photos are rotated according to the orientation from the camera. When reading them in, the page keeps only reduced working copies (at most 800 px), not the originals. The finished GIF contains no metadata of the photos: no GPS location, no camera model, no shooting date.
Limits: at most 100 images and at most 40 million pixels in the whole GIF (number of frames times width times height). Beyond that, the memory of some phones is not enough, and the tool tells you beforehand. The shape of the GIF follows the first image. Images that are smaller than the chosen size are enlarged and look softer. If you keep transparent areas from PNG or WebP, semi-transparent edges in the GIF become either fully transparent or fully opaque. Otherwise they get the chosen background color. Browsers show very short times slower than set, which is why the display time starts at 0.1 seconds.
When resizing, the GIF is put together frame by frame the way a browser shows it, and written anew. If the original was already well packed or you turn on dithering, the new one can be bigger. The tool tells you then. A broken or cut-off file is read up to the broken spot, and you learn how many frames were readable. The ZIP with the individual frames holds at most 100 million pixels.
The page remembers nothing: after closing or reloading, images and GIF are gone, so save before. Your own browser does all the work, nothing is uploaded.
