Compare texts
Paste the old and the new version side by side. You see, line by line, what was removed and what was added.
The comparison runs automatically while you type. From 20,000 lines on, only when you press the button.
Differences
No differenceWith the chosen settings, both texts are the same.
Only compared roughlyOne section was too large for the exact comparison. It is shown entirely as “removed” and “added”. Tip: compare smaller pieces.
Both texts stay on this device. Nothing is saved or transmitted.
How it works
- 01Paste the old version on the left and the new version on the right. The comparison appears while you type.
- 02How to read it: − means removed, + means added. Next to them are the old and new line numbers. In changed lines, the affected words are bold and underlined.
- 03Long unchanged sections are collapsed. Tap “unchanged lines” to expand them.
The texts are compared line by line with the Myers algorithm (it finds the shortest sequence of deletions and insertions). A line break at the very end does not count as a difference. Windows and Unix line breaks count as the same. For very large texts with very many differences, the tool switches to a more economical method and tells you so.
