Lantern parade: songs and parent notes

Mia loves making lanterns. Here you can make song cards to sing along with and a parent note with meeting point and time. Ready as a PDF to print, and the children can color in the lanterns on the cards.

The rhyme is original and free to use. Songs you already know go in as your own text: the words of many songs are protected by copyright or their origin is unclear, so the page ships none.

Leave empty for the template heading. At most 40 characters.

One line of the song per line, up to 16 lines of 48 characters. Blank lines separate the verses.

Cards per A4 sheet

Two cards per sheet are the size of A5 landscape, four the size of A6 portrait.

1 to 10 sheets. For many cards, one sheet and a copier is enough.

Preview

When printing, choose “Actual size” or “100%”. Everything is black on white, an ordinary printer is enough. With several cards per sheet, cut along the gray lines.

Your browser remembers nothing. To keep your entries, save them as a file on your own device.

Goes well with: Make a lantern · Invitations and parent letters (German) · Advent · Recipe cards for baking (German)

Nothing leaves this device. The PDF is made here in your browser, nothing is saved, not even names or dates.

Notes for parents and teachers
  1. 01Choose song cards or the parent note and fill in the fields. Empty fields get a line to fill in by hand.
  2. 02The preview shows every page right away. Download the PDF and print it at actual size.
  3. 03Cut the cards along the dashed line. The children color the lantern and the character before the parade.

Safety. The note asks for lanterns with an LED or battery light. Real candles and tea lights are a risk in a crowd with paper and fabric. Children walk with a grown-up, and you plan the route beforehand.

The custom. A lantern parade is part of autumn in many places, often around 11 November. The templates only name date, meeting point and route. Who you invite and what you call the day is up to you.

Font. The PDF uses Helvetica. Letters such as ł or ș become their base letter and emojis are dropped; the tool says so at the field.
